First Contract
Written with a lyrical flow that is pleasing to brain and soothing after reading the hard and fast technobabble that was sometimes apparent in my last read, First Contract was a solid short story from Frank Westworth. It was, in essence, the best parts of an action movie shoved into 44 measley pages, and I enjoyed almost every second of it. There was one particular scene that was done so well I could see it, and blood-lusting female that I am, it made me give a happy giggle. The only real critcism I have is that, while I was willing to accept the lilting give-and-take later on in the story, at the beginning it was not quite as believable, therefor a bit awkward.
An action-packed short story from an author I wouldn’t mind reading again sometime in the future. I’d recommend it if you need your violence fix in a short burst.
