Down From Beast Mountain
Though it is not without its problems, Down from Beast Mountain was a quick, amusing read. I was able to get into the story almost immediately and quickly settled down to enjoy some people-squishing of the goriest order. Though Down from Beast Mountain doesn’t quite measure up to the awesome people pounding in Stone Cold Bastards, it still contained enough unrepentant violence to give me a serious amount of happy. And, even though there’s a crap ton of violence, it’s a book that’s rather light on the cursing and other adult situations, which was kind of a relief. I don’t mind encountering the stuff in what I read, but sometimes it gets a little old. It’s always nice to read a story where the author has realized that he doesn’t need foul language and the act of human reproduction to sell his book. Instead, it’s just nonstop action with a little side of minor human dramas to keep things grounded.
